BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance today announces that it will organize the ‘2013 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ for tennis amateurs in Korea in September, celebrating the 40th anniversary of BNP Paribas Cardif this year and extending its contribution to the society by supporting various sports, cultural and art programmes.
BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance is the Korean subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif, which is the insurance arm of BNP Paribas. As a leading global financial group, BNP Paribas has a long history in supporting tennis competitions, including being the official sponsor of the major global tournament French Open for 40 years since 1973.
Jean-Christophe Darbes, CEO of BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, said, “Following BNP Paribas’ strong commitment to promoting tennis and the spirit of sportsmanship in different places in the world, we are pleased to co-operate with the Korea Amateur Tennis Organisation (KATO) to organise this tennis competition in Korea. We are dedicated to extending our contribution in various areas such as sport, culture and arts.”
Organized by BNP Paribas Cardif Life and supervised by the KATO, the ‘2013 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ will be held at different tennis courts in Mokdong, Bucheon and Guri on 13 and 14 September. During the two-day event, 450 teams will compete in the qualifying rounds and four teams will advance to the finals to contend for the championship. The winning team will receive a trophy and a gift certificate of KRW 1.5 million, and the runner-up and third players will each receive a trophy and gift certificates of KRW 800,000 and KRW 400,000 respectively. All quarterfinalists will receive a special gift.
The competition is now open for registration until 11 September for tennis amateurs. Apart from the matches, Seung Gheun Lee, the former national tennis player, will also offer free tennis lesson for children aged 7 to 12 on 14 September.
