BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance is pleased to have successfully held the ‘2013 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ in Korea on October 4 and 5, which attracted a total of around 1,100 amateur tennis players to participate in this meaningful event. During this event, there was also a ceremony to present scholarships which aimed to foster young tennis talents in Korea.
BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance is the Korean subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif, which is the insurance arm of BNP Paribas. The “2013 BNP Paribas Amateur Open” was organised in celebration of the 40th anniversary of BNP Paribas Cardif this year, which is also the 40th anniversary of BNP Paribas’ sponsorship in the major global tournament French Open (Roland Garros). Furthermore, BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance held this event aiming to contribute to the development of an amateur tennis culture in Korea and improve local community’s health.
Organised by BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance and supervised by the Korea Amateur Tennis Organisation (KATO), the “2013 BNP Paribas Amateur Open”, which took place in Mokdong, Bucheon and Guri, was attracted around 1,100 amateur tennis players to participate.
In addition, the Country Head of BNP Paribas Korea, Joris Dierckx, together with the representative of the KATO, chaired the ceremony for the special scholarship which aims to help foster talented tennis players among the financially disadvantaged young people in Korea.
Furthermore, during the event, free tennis lessons were offered to 60 children aged to 7 to 12 to help promote a healthy life style among the younger generation. The lessons were taught by a team of professional instructors including Seung Gheun Lee, the former national tennis player, and trainers from the Professional Tennis Association.
