BNP Paribas is pleased to announce that the registration for the ‘2014 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ tennis competition is open now until 16 September 2014.

Following the success of the first ‘BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ tennis competition in Korea last year, BNP Paribas and BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance this year organises this tournament again jointly with Korea Amateur Tennis Organisation (KATO). The games will be held at different tennis courts in  Mokdong, Bucheon and Guri from 18 to 21 September. It is expected that 1,400 amateur tennis players will participate in this exciting event.

Besides competition, there will also be free tennis lessons for children and a ‘junior tennis scholarship’, which aim at raising children’s interest in playing tennis and nurturing young sport talents.

Country Head for BNP Paribas Korea Joris Dierckx commented, “Tennis is a sport that shares the values of BNP Paribas Group. It is accessible to everyone, and it requires ‘fair play’, ‘responsiveness’ and ‘high performance’. We are pleased to supporting this amateur tournament in Korea again and to share the joy of playing tennis with both adults and children.”

For over 40 years, BNP Paribas has been the official sponsor of Roland-Garros, one of the world’s four major tennis tournaments. With the slogan “We are tennis”, BNP Paribas is also a key sponsor for international professional tennis competitions such as the Davis Cup, the Fed Cup and the WTA Championships. Furthermore, BNP Paribas is a leading partner to tennis on every level: supporting local, family and university events, international tournaments, amateur and professional players, and events for both able-bodied and disabled athletes.

In Korea, by creating an opportunity for amateur tennis players to practice and showcase their skills, BNP Paribas hopes that it will help tennis become a sport that is more widely enjoyed in Korea and ultimately, promote a healthier lifestyle as well as bringing people together in the local communities.
