BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, the Korean subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif, the insurance arm of BNP Paribas, is arranging a series of activities under its ‘Dream High’ career mentoring program for high school and college students who are interested in working in the financial market when they grow up.
In partnership with JA (Junior Achievement) Korea, an NGO dedicated to financial education, BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance has been running the ‘Dream High’ project since 2011. Every year, it organises different activities, such as seminars and tours, for the students who enroll in the program to help them understand more about developing a career in the financial world. For the college students, they would act as mentors for the younger high school students.
This year, a workshop was organised on 21 November for the college students who signed up for the 2014 program. During the workshop, a number of BNP Paribas Cardif Life’s executives and employees specialising in different areas such as human resources and actuarial profession shared their experience in developing their career in the financial industry with the students. There was also a tour on for the students to visit the offices of BNP Paribas Seoul Branch and BNP Paribas Securities so that they could have a sense of the real working environment in a corporate investment banking company.
With the help of the staff volunteers of BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, these college students will then act as the mentors for the younger participants and share their advice with about 300 students from Deungchon High School who also want to work in the financial industry in the future.
Jean-Christophe Darbes, CEO of BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, said: “The financial market has been developing rapidly in South Korea. Many young people aspire to join this interesting but also challenging industry. Through the ‘Dream High’ program, BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance hopes to help the young people better understand the financial industry and start to prepare for developing a career in the field earlier. We believe that if you have a clear vision of your future which you persistently pursue, you will be able to become one step closer to your dream.”
BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance has always been dedicated to contributing to the education of the younger generation. On 5 November 2014, Jean-Christophe Darbes also shared his insights of a successful career development in the financial world with approximately 100 graduate students at the Sogang University Graduate School through a special CEO lecture titled ‘The Road to Becoming a Global Financial Expert’.
