In celebration of the Lunar New Year, BNP Paribas jointly organised the “Year of the Blue Sheep” charity bazaar with an NGO, the Beautiful Store, on 14 February in Seoul, which also promoted the love of community and the awareness of environmental protection.
The Beautiful Store is an NGO dedicated to promoting a sense of community as well as carrying out eco-friendly initiatives through sales of second-hand goods. To support the Beautiful Store’s initiatives, BNP Paribas employees had donated over 1,500 items of second-hand goods, such as baby clothes, toys, books and shoes, for the charity sale. A total of 25 executives and employees also acted as volunteers to help at the bazaar which was held at the Beautiful Store’s Anguk branch.
Apart from shopping for second-hand goods, visitors also enjoyed a variety of fun activities prepared by BNP Paribas volunteers, including putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle of a blue sheep and sharing of fortune cookies filled with hopeful messages. BNP Paribas will donate all proceeds from the charity sale to programmes that provide support to socially neglected children.
Jean-Christophe Darbes, CEO of BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, said: “We are very happy to organise the BNP Paribas Charity Bazaar together with the Beautiful Store for the fifth year. Through this kind of charity bazaar, we share our love of the community and the environment with the people in the neighbourhood. It is also highly rewarding to lend a helping hand to the children in need with the sale proceeds. BNP Paribas is committed to contributing to the community via different long-term CSR campaigns.”
In 2011, BNP Paribas held its first charity bazaar ‘Good White Day with Cardif’ with the Beautiful Store. The tradition has been carried on ever since with a different theme every year: the ‘Sharing-Love Charity Bazaar’ in 2012, the ‘Green Eco Day Bazaar’ in 2013, and the ‘Love on a Spring Bazaar’ in 2014.
