BNP Paribas is proud to announce the successful completion of the ‘2015 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ which was held from 5 to 13 September at Bucheon, Guri, Mok-dong and Anyang tennis courts, participated by nearly 2,000 amateur tennis players and families.
After the two successful tournaments in 2013 and 2014, BNP Paribas in Korea once again partnered with Korea Amateur Tennis Organisation (KATO) this year to organise the ‘2015 BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ so as to promote the joy of tennis and a healthy lifestyle among the local communities.
Since 2014, the tournament has been carried out in MA class – the highest class in amateur competitions. Around 1,600 amateur players competed fiercely and fairly in seven divisions: Female Novice, Female Advanced, Male Novice, Male Advanced, Experts, Instructors and Mixed Doubles.
In addition to the main competitions, there were also programs tailor-made for children to give the next generation a chance to experience and enjoy the fun of playing tennis. Free tennis lessons were provided to 100 children aged 7 to 12, including those from the underprivileged backgrounds. BNP Paribas also provided junior tennis scholarship again this year to support Korea’s young tennis talents who perform well in the local and international junior tennis tournaments.
Philippe Noirot, Country Head for BNP Paribas Korea, said: “We are pleased that the ‘BNP Paribas Amateur Open’ has been well received by the participants for three years in a row. Through this event, we illustrate our commitment to the local communities and enjoy this exciting sport together. We will continue to support tennis and offer enjoyable experience to players and children as a way of giving back to the local communities.”
For over 40 years, BNP Paribas has been the official sponsor of Roland Garros, one of the world’s four major tennis tournaments. It is also the title sponsor of the WTA Finals which will be held in Singapore from 25 October to 1 November 2015.
