BNP Paribas celebrates 40 years of uninterrupted presence in the Korean market on 4th October this year.
To commemorate the occasion and to contribute to the community, BNP Paribas has supported a project involving the restoration of seven artworks in Seoul. A ceremony, hosted by Eric Raynaud, CEO, BNP Paribas in Asia Pacific and Philippe Noirot, Country Head, BNP Paribas South Korea was held on 26th September to celebrate the 40th anniversary and the completion of the restoration project at the Sculpture Garden of the Sungkok Art Museum, where the artworks are exhibited.
Mr Raynaud said: “Korea is Asia’s fourth largest economy and a very important market for BNP Paribas. We have been in Korea since 1976, helping our Korean clients to grow and financing the economy. We look forward to building upon this commitment into the future. We have supported this art restoration project to help preserve Korea’s cultural heritage and to give back to the community.”
Park Moon-soon, Director of Sungkok Art Museum commented: “BNP Paribas, with its long standing presence in Europe, in Asia and across the world, is well-known for its dedication and support for art through various philanthropy programmes. We are very grateful that the key collections of the Sungkok Art Museum were able to regain their lustre through this project. We hope this partnership between BNP Paribas and Sungkok Art Museum will enable more opportunity for the general public to experience art.”
The seven artworks supported by this restoration project are:

• ‘4 Dimensional Drawing- a Walker’ (1996) by Oh Sang-wook
• ‘Eternal Recurrence’ (1996) by Kim Yoon-wha
• ‘Messenger 95195’ (1995) by Cho Sung-mook
• ‘Ideal Man’ (1996) by Franco Origoni
• ‘Untitled’ (2000) by Um Tai-jung
• ‘Organic Geometry’ (2006) by Hong Seung-hye
The project was organised as a part of the ‘BNP Paribas for Art’ programme implemented by the BNP Paribas Foundation, which has helped to restore more than 700 masterpieces around the world since 1994.
