Established in South Korea since 1976 with a full banking licence, BNP Paribas combines global expertise and local know how for the benefit of its customers, from large Korean and international companies to individuals.

BNP Paribas employs over 500 people in South Korea and provides banking, financing, advisory and asset management services to its local and overseas clients, including corporations, financial institutions, and institutional investors. In 2002, BNP Paribas strengthened its local presence by forging a strategic alliance with Shinhan Financial Group, one of the largest banking and financial groups in South Korea. BNP Paribas is now its second largest shareholder.

BNP Paribas has successfully developed its activities with Shinhan through joint ventures in Asset Management.  Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management Company resulted from this joint venture to offer a unique set of tailor-made product and service capabilities to the local asset management market. Today, it is recognized as one of the best asset management companies in South Korea.
