BNP Paribas and the film industry are connected by a shared set of values including creativity, imagination and innovation. For 100 years, the BNP Paribas Group has supported and promoted this art, both in France and around the world. Its goal is to bring a rich variety of films to all audiences, while supporting the development of the film industry, promoting the emergence of new talent and raising social awareness.

Active across the industry’s entire value chain, BNP Paribas’ commitment to film is rooted in three main areas: financing audio-visual production, partnerships and innovation to develop brand affinity. Today, film is a major passion that the bank shares with its clients.

Celebrating film

Alongside our funding activities, BNP Paribas supports a variety of industry events. In France, the BNP Paribas Group supports national and regional film events including the Télérama Film Festival, the Grand Lyon Film Festival, the Champs Elysées Film Festival, the Académie des César, the Cannes Film Festival as well as events organised in Strasbourg, Saint Etienne, Arras, Rennes, Deauville and more.

In Korea, BNP Paribas is an official partner of the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival since 2019 to support discovery of female talent and help development of the film industry. The Seoul International Women’s Film Festival has led the development of the film industry by discovering female filmmakers and sponsoring women’s film projects Since 1997. It has established its status as the hub of women’s film network in Asia Pacific.

BNP Paribas supports towards the discovery of female talent in short film production through the ‘BNP Paribas Asian Shorts Award’ every year as a major sponsor. In 2022, our Group supported film “Eiffel” (2021) was featured; following last year’s special screening of another BNP Paribas supported film “WOMAN” (2019).

As Diversity, Equality and Inclusion are some of the most important values of BNP Paribas. Through our sponsorship to the SIWFF, we support for the realization of gender equality and the development of female filmmakers in the Korean film industry in line with the high status of Korean culture.
