BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance holds a ‘Credit Care Academy’ for middle school students and vulnerable children

June 29, 2023

BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance has announced the launch of Credit Care Academy, a credit management-focused economic education program for middle school students and vulnerable children.

BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance is the life insurance subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif in Korea, the insurance arm of BNP Paribas, and the world leader in creditor insurance.

The Credit Care Academy is a financial education and career mentoring social contribution program that BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance and JA Korea, an international NGO specializing in economic education for young generation, have been running together for 13 consecutive years. Since last year, the program has specialized in credit management, which is the foundation of a healthy financial life, helping young generation with relatively little interest in credit and educational opportunities to prepare themselves for the problem of imbalance in financial knowledge before entering society.

As the first Credit Care Academy this year, a workshop was held in May for senior students at the Community Children’s Center located in Incheon Province, where an expert lecturer introduced basic financial concepts such as income, expenses, and credit at the students’ point of view, followed by interesting hands-on game activities. At the middle school academy in June for 150 students from Bongrim Middle School in Seoul, BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance’s employee volunteers provided career mentoring and explain the concept of credit and the importance of credit management. A digital and credit education program for seniors is also planned for the second half of the year.

Jonathan Oh, the President and CEO of BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance said, “The ultimate goal of the Credit Care Academy is to support the financially vulnerable in the changing financial environment by providing them with basic financial literacy and opportunities to build a sound economic mindset, so that they are not marginalized and can pursue higher dreams. This initiative is also in line with our global headquarter, BNP Paribas Cardif, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and emphasizes its ‘Positive Impact’ on society. We will continue to practice inclusive finance as a responsible financial company with corporate social activities that contribute to solving social problems such as household debt and debt inheritance.”

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas Cardif Life Insurance, which has been providing creditor insurance in Korea for more than 20 years, operates the Credit Care Program, which provides integrated support for credit management, including the ‘Credit Care Guide’, which provides useful information on safe borrowing and wise credit management, and the ‘Credit Care Academy’, which provides financial education on credit management for the financially vulnerable.
